- - - - Magnetic strips of rock show when Earth had normal polarity and reverse polarity, when the rock was aligned with magnetic north, it has normal, when its aligned with magnetic south it had reverse polarity. The pattern of normal vs reverse polarity is symmetrical on both sides of the mid-ocean ridge, thus proving the sea-floor spreading occurs.
    - - the earthquake patterns researched by Wadatti and Benioff show that shallow-focus earthquakes occur very close to the trench while deeper earthquakes occur further down into the mantle.
    - - As new oceanic crust is created, the old stuff gets pushed to the side and eventually subducted back into the mantle, thus makeing the crust older on the edges of the continents and younger towards the mid-ocean ridge.
- - - - Lithospheric plate subducts, gravity pulls it further down into the mantle, this helps the downward movement of mantle convection
    - - Upward flow of hot magma comes out of the mid-ocean ridge, pushes existing lithosphere plate, this helps the upwards movement of convection currents

- - - - oceanic continetal: oceanic crust is denser, so it will get subducted while the les dense continetal crust remains floating. The starts the formation of a continental volcanic arc.
      - Oceanic oceanic: the older oceanic slab will descend beneath the younger one due to the fact that the older a plate is, trhe denser it is. Once it is melted into the mantle, it will create a volcanic island arc formed from the hotter than normal magme risisng from the newly melted plate.
      - Continental continental: if an oceanic plate that collides with a continantal plate contains continental lityhosphere, it will cause the formation of a mountain range. Plate rebound hapens and the continental plate bounces back up and pushes the other continental crust up creating a mountain range
