Supplementary vote
Used in:
Formerly the London Assembly, now it is FPTP
How it works:
Voters have two choice. If there is a clear majority, first person wins and second votes are ignored. If this doesn't happen votes are re distributed until there is a winner.
Benefits:
Majority result, increasing their legitimacy

Additional member system

Benefits:

Proportional result: the more seats a party gains in the constituency vote (FPTP), the more difficult it is for them to receive regional seats as they are divided by a higher number.
In order to achieve a single - party government a party has to have broad popularity, not just regional strongholds.
