should children under 14 be allowed to play violent video games
hook
has your child ever asked for a violent video game that made you question their sanity? if so, this essay is for you.
many children under 14 ask for a violent video game but is it ok to get it for them?
specialized info
reaserch has discovered that when you do bad in one of these games or you are commenting on something the people playing might start to bully you, this is bad because it can lead children to be more introverted and less opinionated
nowadays in certain games like roblox where you can access a network of games, you can find many scary or violent games, usually kids under 12 are on roblox, but are playing violent and scary games which can mess up their brain
violent video games can increase a childs violence level and make them more dangerous
thesis
i personally think they shouldn't because violent video games can help harbour unhealthy habits and language, it can also change their way of being in general because of the fact that every day they are being exposed to violence, some of these video games have the option to talk with the people playing, these people can be over 20 and can use vulgular language which I imagine you would not want your child hearing and learning.
1st main argument (it can harbour unhealthy habits and language)
there are random people playing with your child
these old people could ask your child weird questions and can be overall dangerous, stuff like your address, name, or age, and those are really creepy questions
they can be playing for long periods of time and lose sleep because of it, they may also change their way of speaking and start to use words like crap, damn it, etc. or in some extreme cases the really bad words which we all know
as I said before in some of these games you can talk or chat with the other people playing and games like these might not have a filter, leading to your child seeing people swear or use vulgar language that your child should not be hearing, also these chats can lead to online bulllying which can make your child act different from then on if they are sensitive to that kind of stuff.
2nd main argument (immaturity at this age
lots of research suggests that continuous exposure to violent video games may increase aggresion which is more prone to happen to pre-teens under the age of 12-14
children under 14 are very immature most of the time, so playing games like these can make them scared or afraid to do certain stuff because of that video game
children under 14 can get very worked up over a game and start screaming and sometimes hitting or throwing stuff when playing a violent fighting game like COD
3rd main argument (there are other people playing)
it is proven that bullying can lead to deppression or introvertedness
in extreme cases bullying can lead to a child killing themselves
people online can bully you
history and backround

moretal kombat was the first semi violent video game, it didnt include any gore and was just a simple fighting game where you could have fun with friends
