Life Below Water
- Facts
Limiting pollution involves strategies to reduce the release of harmful substances into the environment. This includes controlling plastic waste, reducing industrial runoff, regulating agricultural chemicals, and promoting clean energy. Policies and practices target air, water, and soil pollution to protect ecosystems.
- Process
Limiting pollution helps achieve SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by reducing marine litter and chemical runoff that harm ocean ecosystems. It supports SDG 15 (Life on Land) by improving soil health, preventing biodiversity loss, and protecting freshwater sources. The strategy can be implemented through regulations, community cleanups, education campaigns, and sustainable industrial practices.
3.Benefits
Rwanda banned plastic bags in 2008. The result was a significant reduction in environmental pollution, cleaner streets, improved soil and water quality, and better habitats for land and aquatic life.
This case shows that strong environmental policies and public cooperation can lead to effective pollution control and contribute to SDG goals.

Conservation:
Facts: The method works by protecting and monitoring sea turtles across a 21 mile beach in Tortuguero, Costa Rica.
Strategy: This strategy can be used to help achieve SDG goal 14, which is the conservation of sustainability in oceans. This strategy helps by preserving the life of sea turtles, which is an extremely important marine animal, from going extinct.
Benefits: This preservation of sea turtles also helps to maintain healthy ecosystems in the ocean, as sea turtles maintain the health of seagrass beds and coral reefs. These are all also cornerstones of marine ecosystems.
