Th coach starts talking and saying what we will be doing. All the girls including her best friend were smiling and seemed very excited. But you were locked in and wanted to be on a good team.
[page 3] The night of the volleyball tryout you are tempted to tell them what you are planning to do. But you keep it to yourself because you are too afraid for them to say no or get mad at you for asking.Mom then asks about any sports you wanted to do. Your mom thinks it's a great idea and she says you should try out and be good at it. On the other hand, your dad is mad you would bring up playing a sport. He thinks that you would break something and he doesn't want to pay for the medical bills. Your mom says it would be fine and we need to let her go out and have fun. They get into a big argument about it and they keep fighting. You break up the fight and they get angry with you. They stop fighting and tell her not to do it. [turn to page 4]
[page 8] As you're done changing your stomach starts to hurt from all the stress and the girls hurting your feelings. You shake off what the girls said and you try to get confident. Everybody is leaving the locker room and you and your friend are already the first ones out in the gym. Everybody is giving you looks but not your friend. They assume that she will make it and you won't. That makes your stomach hurt a bit more.turn to page 10]

The girls were judging you by the way you were warming up. They were giving you dirty looks. One of the girls tells your friend that she isn't doing it right and your friend agreed. This made you feel very betrayed because she is your friend. You start to over think and ask yourself why you are here.[turn to page 12]
[page 11] The coach explains warm ups and you get started. You try your best to do everything correctly so you don't get judged at the same time you try not to be as shy and more talkative. You do this so the girls will like you better. You try to talk to the girls and you were very friendly to them. They were friendly back and you start to like the girls. Coach says when your done with warm ups, you can find a partner and pass the ball. Your friend already got asked so you ask one of the other girls. She agrees to toss the ball with you.
[page 21] Its there serve again and it goes to you. You hit it over and they miss the ball. This made you feel very happy. The game continued and at one point your team reached 21 points and you won. The try out day 1 was over.[page 23]
[page 20] The other person served it again and it went to your friend next to you. She hit the ball and she made it over. They got the point and your team went for a celebration. You tried to get in it but nobody high fived you. They left you out and ignored you in the celebration. You felt yourself to tear up a little bit.[page 22]

[page 12] You start to feel misunderstood In front of this audience and you want to go home. The coach says for everybody to find a partner and toss the ball. Your friend was already asked. You were to shy to ask anybody and you didn't know what to do. You ask coach and she picks your partner. The girl looked mean and really good at volleyball.[page 14]
[page 18] It was time to rotate and they had to rotate you in. You felt nervous. You were on the left side at the front of the net. The other team served it and they hit it to you. The popped it up out of bounds. You felt discouraged and you didn't want to be here anymore. But you have a love for the sport.[page 20]

Her name was Izzy and you guys talked a lot. Coach told all the girls to stop tossing and she was going to say what we will do for tryouts. She said that we would set the ball around cones. Since you were confident you did very well [page 15]
[Page 17] You chose to pick your new friend and your old friend. Then you decided to pick other random people. You felt pretty confident with your team. You decided you wanted to serve first. You felt confident that you could do very well. You wanted to serve over hand. You got it over the net and the other girls from the other side missed. Your team did a team celebration and you felt happy. It was your serve again and you hit it but they hit the ball back. It was a long rally and you got the point.[page 19]

The coach said after your done tossing we would get into a circle and talk about what the actual tryouts will be. She explained that we would do a scrimmage to see how well we play. A scrimmage is when you practice but your also playing a game. Thats what we started. [page 16]
[page 16] You had no idea what a scrimmage was but you were to shy to ask. They said to get into positions and you wanted to sit out first. You were to nervous to embarrass yourself if you did bad. You had no idea you would have to go in after the set. Coach told us first to 21 points.[page 18]

[page 25]You got your slip of paper and went outside. When you got out there you opened it. You didn't end up making the team. The notes said that you didn't try very hard and that you were to quiet. This made you upset. You went home with a broken heart and an excuse of why you were late home. You told them that you stayed after to work on work. They believed you and you carried on with life.[end of story]
