Adhesive Choosing
Options
PVA
Pros: Recommended by one of my research sources, very easy to get my hands on, dries strong and leaves no residue
Cons: Very liquid so hard to work with, takes a while to dry, may not work well on my chosen material
SOBO Tacky Glue
Pros: heavily recommended by one of my sources, sticks well and dries very quick, tacky means it is easier to attach pieces
Cons: Very expensive compared to other options as it will have to be bought online, unsure of how it will perform with my chosen material
Hot Glue Gun
Cons: Not recommended by research, will leave too much residue and increase the size of parts making them harder to fit, most visually unappealing
Pros: Very easy to use as i have used it before, dries incredibly quick and is very strong.
Super Glue
Pros: Dries very quick, very strong hold, not overly expensive, no residue, will work on my chosen material
Cons: maybe too strong incase of mistakes, can be toxic
Material choosing
Options
Foamboard
Pros: Easy to work with, comes in very large sheets, comes in standardised thickness, very good aesthetics, researched methods on how to work with it, relatively cheap
Cons: may not work with certain glues, foam leaves a large mess, white so quite easily stained etc, relatively fragile
Wood sheet
Pros: Very strong, very large range of sizes and thicknesses, visually nice, easy to find, can cut very sharp shapes
Cons: have not researched manufacture methods, relatively expensive, will require more finishing than other method, may require specialist equipment to use effectively
Cardboard
Pros: Researched methods on how to use cardboard for models, cheapest option, very easy to work with, works with most adhesives
Cons: Thicker pieces can be weaker, often printed on, thicknesses less standardised, very poor aesthetics, very easy to fold/break, stains easily
Acrylic
Pros: very good aesthetics, comes in wide range of colours, sizes and thicknesses, very strong
Cons: Most expensive, will require specialist equipment to cut, most toxic to health (dust made when cutting)
