Emotions influence thought as they influence our attitudes, beliefs, and values
Helpful way it influences our thinking: helps our body to function quickly
Unhelpful way: distractions; we lose focus and concentration
It's easier for us to remember happy moments when we are happy and sad moments when we are sad because emotions are a neural glue that connects facts to memories
Emotions has a positive influence on our behavior as we strive for good feeling rather than negative feelings

Interpersonal Functions
we usually express ourselves emotionally verbally and non verbally and this shapes our social interactions
emotional expressions signals the nature of our relationships and facial expressions gives an insight on where a relationship could be going in the future
Emotional expressions regulate our social interactions and it gives people a social cue on how to react to a certain situation when they see people around them react to it
Visual Cliff studies
Mothers were at a "cliff" and they placed some toys on safety glass so that the infants crawl towards them and they are happy but when they crawl towards the middle of the "cliff", the mothers shows signs of fear.
In conclusion of this, there were lower percentages of the infant crossing when they saw their mom sad but when the mother showed happiness, the infants were crawling towards them.

- There are some emotions that are easy to recognize. Like sometimes I think it's easy to see whether I am mad because I display that through the expression of resting my face and not talking. But sometimes in other cultures that can be seen as a face that is neutral because sometimes my parents can't tell if I am mad because in their culture, this is seen as a neutral face.
- In the intrapersonal functions where they said when we get afraid our body reacts this way. I remember one time when I went to my sister's house in the summer and I found that there was a spider inside my shirt, and within seconds I panicked and I was flailing around so that I can get the spider off my shirt. I remember so much adrenaline and blood rushing to the upper half of my body because I was so scared.
- When I was growing up, there were emotions of disappointment and anger but there was also happiness. Most of those negative emotions did change the way I think nowadays because I find myself to be quite pessimistic sometimes. But in a positive light, I've learned to control my emotions better and try to contain my anger rather than lashing out on people. Although I can be pessimistic, there is still that happiness that I get and I smile a lot in situations even sometimes in serious ones.
