Statement of the Problem: Youth civic engagement is low, with many young people feeling detached from the larger community surrounding them. Often, young people feel their voices and actions cannot create meaningful change. Youth Involvement in civic programs, such as youth councils or commissions, offers opportunities for youth to learn more about civics and become increasingly involved in their community. Youth involvement in civic programs promotes positive citizenship, leading to informed and empowered youth (Malin et al., 2015).
