STARS
LIFE CYCLE OF A STAR
Firstly , it starts as a cloud of dust and gas ( a nebula)
-
After some time, it becomes a main sequence star and follows one of two paths: :arrow_lower_right:
BIGGER THAN THE SUN
-
Next ,they transform into a supernova
After this, they either become a neutron star or a black hole
SAME SIZE AS THE SUN
-
-
Finally, they become a black dwarf
Within a star, the process of fusion leads to the formation of new elements
In young stars, hydrogen nuclei fusea to form helium
As the star runs out of hydrogen with age, the core heats and fuses into heavier elements over time like carbon and oxygen
In very large stars, it can form elements as heavy as up to iron

RED SHIFT
Red shift is evidence that the universe is constanly expanding, as is proof of the Big Bang theory
This is a theory that suggests the universe began froma very small, hot and dense region that rapidly expanded
-
The further away a galaxy is, the faster away from us it is moving. We know this due to red shift, as we observe an increase in the wavelength of light in further galaxies
