BEND ARTICLES
The bend bulletin talks about how important it should be for bend and redmond to conserve water. They think if the cities aren't looking to expand and if they don't start conserving the water prices will go up by a
large amount. They also say the city should encourage people to replace turf with drought resistant plants adapted to the local climate. It says the city also has policies in place to discourage people from wavering pavement. The Bend Bulletin also thinks if they have higher levels of water usage and people would pay more and not be too bothered by it.
Source weekly bend talks about how lots of people are struggling from over water usage due to living in drier areas of bend. It also says some residents are using over 1 millions gallons of water per year just for there lawns. Across acres of land surrounding Redmond and Tumalo resedential wells are drying very quickly. The city of bend and Redmond are urging people and encouraging them to reduce their water usage it is optional and cannot be controlled what the citizens do. Many people still refuse to reduce how much water they use. If this keeps up it may lead to a drought. The source weekly wanted to track where our water is going. 95% of the deschutes river basin goes to irrigation but with canal water seeping into the ground we don't know who uses the other. It matters because houses within the US use 29 BILLION gallons per day. 50% of the water is waster due to over watering lawns.
