Halogens are reactive and the word equation (I created from an example) is : metal + halogen ---> metal halogen-ide.
Element: A pure substance consisting of only one type of atom, which cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means.
Mixture: A physical combination of two or more substances (elements or compounds) that are not chemically bonded, retain their individual properties, and can be separated by physical means.

Filtration separates coffee solution from ground up coffee beans, sand filters remove impurities and grit from water to make it safe to drink.

Evaporation: the process where a liquid transitions into a gas, a type of vaporization that occurs at the surface of the liquid
Distillation: the process that uses evaporation and condensation (the process where a gas transitions into a liquid state, typically due to a decrease in temperature) to obtain a solvent from a solution.
Reactivity Series describes the patterns of metals reactions with acids, oxygen, and water.
In a displacement reaction, a more reactive element displaces, or pushes out, a less reactive element from its compound.
-
Metals that react vigorously with dilute acid also react vigorously with oxygen. Metals that do not react with dilute acids do not react with oxygen.

Group 1 are very reactive, and the reactions get more vigorous going down the group, including water

Compound: A pure substance formed when two or more different elements are chemically bonded together in fixed proportions.
