Agriculture- around 85% of SD is farmed with abt 1100 farm businesses in the area, chalk grasslands are ideal for grazing sheep/ training race horses, clay grasslands has longer grass better fro dairy cows, on south facing slopes deeper slopes more suitable for arable farming. H.I Adv- income generated from farming supports local economy; ag businesses account for approx 6% of employment in park, formation hedgerows + field margins led to wildlife corridors for bats. Dis- has been significant decline in chalk grasslands from use of chemicals in farming, decline in arable farming + changes in farming practices reduced presence of plants, this damages habitats
