electricity and electrons - Coggle Diagram
electricity and electrons
there are two types of current
AC - alternating current this type of current: this type is in the means in a house.
DC - direct current this type of current: direct current comes from like a battery.
fuses
a fuse is connected to the live wire in a plug (see plug diagram)
fuses are for safety.
too much current flows through the fuse it will blow and stop the current from reaching the appliance.
It is very important use recommended by the uh the appliance manufacturer.
circuit breaker
To use and text all circuits
and circuit breaker is a modern fuse.
they are mostly used in household Circuits.
If too much current flows through the circuit breaker instead of it blowing like a fuse it flicks or trips.
to reset flick the switch, back off
symbols
Light Emitting Diode (L.E.D)
Symbols
real life
what does it do
needs are resistor wired in front to stop it from blowing. LED's give it light.
Buzzer
Symbols
real life
what does it do
when the current passes through it Buzzes
motor
Symbols
real life
what does it do
Provides rotational force
battery
real life
what does it do
give power to something
Symbols
switch
Symbols
real life
what does it do
when off does not let power through when on let's power through
Lamp/Bulb
Symbols
real life
what does it do
to give light
Resistor
Symbols
real life
what does it do
resistors are an electrical process components that reduced the amount of current flowing through a circuit the electrical resistance of resistors are measured in ohms (Ω)
Variable Resistor
Symbols
real life
what does it do
Varias the current by turning the dial
light dependent resistor (L.D.R)
Symbols
real life
what does it do
The resistance depends on how much light there is. it controls the amount of current flowing
polarized component
A polarized component must be connected the right way around to work.
are polarized component has a positive and negative leg (connection)
Examples
LED
Battery
Non-polarized component
Non-polarized components can be connected either way around
they do not have positive or negative sides
Examples
Wires
bulbs
resistors
Speakers
types of resistors
resistors come in two types fixed and variable.
Variable resistors have a screw or knob on them that can be turned to set the resistance.
Fixed resistors come in Fixed resistance values
E.g
130,000Ω +/- 10%
130kΩ +/- 10%
