Aberystwyth Arts Centre One of the largest arts centres in Wales, located in Aberystwyth, near Cardiff, this happening place stages excellent opera, drama, dance and concerts, plus it has an art gallery, a quality bookshop, and a bar and café. The cinema shows a great range of cult and foreign-language movies, and there's always a programme of workshops to sign up for.
Electric Cinema Topped by its art deco sign, this is the UK's oldest working cinema, operating since 1909. Located in Birmingham, it screens mainly arthouse films. Be waited upon in plush two-seater sofas, or have a drink in the small bar, which has a traditional absinthe fountain, cocktails themed around films currently showing and 'poptails' (popcorn-flavoured cocktails, in lieu of popcorn being available).
