- - - - • Identifying simple tools/machines.
        Through visual aids such as videos and photos, learners will gain insight into the machines and tools used to transform the raw materials into the end product. ((Maddie's Do You Know, 2020)
      - • Comparing the past to the present:
        Learners will examine the tools once used in processing and compare them to the modern tools and machines in use today.
      - • Class Activity: Learners will make a tool from recycled materials to produce a final product from a raw material. For example: a juice extractor.
  - - - • Observing and comparing materials (The Spruce,2024) . For example, the different types of bricks and the raw materials used to produce each kind: Clay mixed with straw > sun-dried bricks.
      - • Understanding the transformation process (Imperial Sugar, 2015):
        Class Activity - learners will conduct an experiment exploring the process of sugar crystallizing into rock candy.
      - • Learners will record their findings through drawings and writing and reflect on their hypothesis
  - - - • Class Activity: Learners will draw a house made from mud/clay and one made from brick, comparing past to now
      - • Learners will explore how brick buildings have replaced traditional clay or mud huts and the impact this transformation has had on people's lives.
      - • Understanding the roles of workers in society.

        •Understanding how natural materials are processed into products, tools and machines:
        Learners what a video about how a shirt is produced from the cotton plant. (Science Channel, 2019)
        
        • The use of transforming natural materials:
        Some vegetables can be boiled and the colours in the water used as natural dyes.
  - - - • Environmental awareness:
        A story about being environmentally aware to preserve natural resources by recycling, replanting, not polluting
      - • Jobs and the importance of the people involved will be discussed:
        Farmers for harvesting.
        Miners/Construction workers for buildings
      - • Natural resources for human use:
        Discuss what natural resources are used for human use. For example, the different parts of a plant for human consumption. (Science World)
  - - - • Class activity: Learners create a collage from magazines and must label where it's a natural resource or product.
      - • Understanding how natural materials are linked to one another.
        For example, plants grow in the soil from the earth. Water is needed for the plant to grow and produce fruits, vegetables.

        Plants - medicine, cotton, food
        The Earth - soil, rocks, water
