Al-Kitab – in Islamic thought, those religionists-Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians, and Sabians- who are possessors of divine books, as distinguished from those whose religions are not based on divine revelations. Muhammad granted them freedom to worship, they just had to pay a special tax to worship their religion.
