GI and Trademark - Coggle Diagram

- - - - collective marks are usually defined as signs which distinguish the geographical origin, material, mode of manufacture, quality or other common characteristics of goods or services of different enterprises using the collective mark. Collective Trade marks are owned by an association that sets the requirements for the use of same.
  - - - The most common geographical name protected under the CTM system, prior to the GI Act, was "Darjeeling Tea".
      - CTM application can include, for example, region or location or origin, materials of construction, method or mode of manufacture or provision, quality assurance, accuracy of the goods or services or any definable characteristic of the goods or services. It can also certify manufacture or provision of services by members of a union or other organization to certain standards. A Gl, on the other hand, is only an indication (or certification) of the geographic origin of goods (not services, CTMs cover services) and quality or characteristics of the goods that are directly attributable to the geographic origin.
