Ecology Project - Coggle Diagram

- - - - MISSING SPECIES -
        Using page 35, I found that a giraffe would be an endangered species. This is due to poaching & overhunting. This is bad for the environment because giraffes are crucial to plant growth. Using page 35, I found that the reason why giraffes were on the brink of going extinct was over-hunting or poaching. This is because giraffes are worth a lot of money because they are rare. The effect on other animals by bringing the giraffes back would be the poachers and the lions. This is because poachers would go back to killing giraffes and make more money, whilst the lions and other bigger predators would eat giraffes for food.
    - - CLAIM - Biodiversity helps keep a healthy ecosystem, it helps keep the resources availible to everyone and it helps the eccosystem recover from damages.
- - - - BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLES
        The sulfur cycle transfers sulfur through the Earth's systems, starting with volcanoes. It enters the atmosphere and falls as acid or normal rain, where animals then consume it and return it to the soil as nutrients through waste. Human activities, like burning fossil fuels and using fertilizers, disrupt this cycle and contribute to global warming. Elements cycle through Earth's spheres and are interconnected, including the water, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur cycles. The water cycle moves water through the air and ground for living things, while the carbon cycle transfers carbon among plants, animals, and the soil. The nitrogen cycle converts nitrogen gas into a usable form for plants. These cycles collaborate to recycle essential elements for life on Earth.
      - FOOD WEBS
        Energy in an ecosystem flows through trophic levels, starting with producers like plants that use sunlight to make food. Primary consumers, such as herbivores, eat the plants, followed by secondary and tertiary consumers that eat the animals below them. Apex predators sit at the top. Only 10% of the energy moves up the levels, while the rest is lost. Decomposers, like bacteria and fungi, break down dead organisms and return nutrients to the soil, supporting new plant growth. In a prairie food web, energy begins with producers like grasses and flowers, followed by herbivores like grasshoppers and rabbits, and then carnivores like snakes and hawks. This cycle maintains the ecosystem.
      - Cars transfer in and out by new models being made and cars breaking down. For example when my mom got her first car she drove it for a while. But after time the car got used to much and started to break down. This is like the law of conservation of energy because the car didnt get destroyed only the energy got transferred. The energy of a used car could be transferred to a new car because of things like a car getting a new door. Cars can change, energy can change but the energy cant be destroyed.
      - CLAIM - In ecosystems, matter and energy move through different cycles and processes
        
        This car is like the car I talked about in my connection because it shows how energy can be transfered but not destroyed. I got it off of google because through looking at pictures to pick, I found that this one really represented energy being transfered even in cars.
- - - - IMPACT
        \Organisms in an ecosystem interact in many different ways. For example, lions & zebras. Trees need sunlight and then give off oxygen. Bees help the flowers by pollinating them, and then the flowers grow. In conclusion, these interactions, competition, and predation help the overall ecosystem health.
        
        CONNECTION FOR RELATIONSHIPS
        Cars are a the same type of domain. Although they all look different, they come from the same roots. Like I talked about in the Biodiversity connection Henry Ford and others changed cars to what they are today. Connecting to what we learned about on page 31 taxonomy, I found that most cars are in a different species. Also some type of cars are good for the environment. For example, in the 1980’s the first ever water powered car was made. This helped us humans save on fuel. Then in 2003 electric cars were made. Now electric cars are booming around the earth and the energy is being transferred.
        
        CLAIM - Organisms interact through competition, predation, symbiosis, and decomposition, affecting ecological balance.
        
        I took this picture when I was looking at cars to buy. I chose to put this here because it shows variety in cars.

      - Biodiversity - Cars apply to diversity because of how cars change and evolve. For example car history such as Henry Ford.
      - Ecological Relationships - Cars apply to Ecological Relationships because of how the car foundation is. They also are related but not using page 31 and what we learned about cats.
      - Matter and Energy - Cars apply to Matter and Energy because of how cars transfer in and out. For example a car breaking down and having to be destroyed, but the energy dosent destroy and then buying a new car.
