Charlotte feels nervous and unsure when she realizes the other passengers aren’t coming.
External:Charlotte vs the crew’s strange behavior
The crew acts cold and silent toward her, which makes her uncomfortable.
External:Charlotte vs the dirty, dangerous ship
She expected a clean, elegant journey. The ship is messy, smelly, and feels unsafe.
Internal: Fear of accepting the dirk (small knife)
Zachariah gives her a dirk for protection. Charlotte is horrified — a proper young lady shouldn’t need a weapon!

Happiness:when she sees how Captain Jaggery is at least civilisez which for her the others members of the crew weren't.

Zachariah: She felt superior because of her social class to him but even though she didn't want to brign him any problem.
Captain Jaggery:she was happy to find out that tere was at least someone who was ine same social class as her; so they couldn't actually become friends.
The crew: she just felt like she didn't belong to them.That she was they superior,and that she shouldn't really hang with them.

We can say that Charlotte choose to trust Captain Jaggery because of his social statue but still didn't want to give the rest of the crew any problems.
