Prevent Price fixing
Price fixing is when 2 or more companies agree to set the prices of their products or services at a certain level, instead of letting competition in the market determine prices naturally. This can be when companies set a minimum price or maximum price, agreeing to fix discounts, or dividing the market equally so that they don't compete in the same areas.
The main law that protects consumers form price fixing is the Competition Act. This act makes price fixing between companies a criminal offence. Companies or individuals found guilty can face heavy fines up to millions of dollars or long prison times.G
