Shapes, space and measurements should be introduced for children top develop their understanding

National Curriculum
Children will develop confidence and mental fluency with whole numbers, counting and place value. This should involve working with numbers, words and four operations with resources.
Children should be able to recognise, describe, draw, compare and sort different shapes, while using correct vocabulary.
Children will have an understanding of measurements and different quantities such as length, mass, volume, time and money.

How knowledge progresses
Knowledge progresses as,
- children have a greater understanding of numbers up to 20
- Their vocabulary is increasing in different areas of maths, such as shapes
- Children hopefully have a positive outlook in maths supporting their maths development further
- Children can draw shapes as well as know them
- Further development in doing maths with resources provided to account to real life siutations
How skills progress
Skills progress such as
- Children learn to count higher and more confidently
- Mental maths is increase as confidence grows
- Drawing skills
- Voculabary and recognising different concepts
