While staying with Goneril, Lear has a group of 100 knights with him at all times, Goneril calls for him to reduce it to 50, this angers Lear, he curses Goneril and goes to Regan, where the fool warns him that he will receive the same treatment, and this he does, when he arrives he finds his Messager in the stock at the order of Regan, this angary him as he sees it a disrespectful
while arguing with Regan Goneril arrives and GR teams up with each to see how low the cane bring the number of knights Lear has, very similar to the love test with both sister trying to one up each other. This leaves Lear with none, this causes Lear to rush out into the storm, where he spends most of the rest of the play losing his minds to the disrespect and injustice the gods have serviced him
When GR learn of Lear's survival and Cordelia's plan to help him through Edmund, who was told by Gloucester in confidence, they began to plan a opposition force. For his crimes against them Regan has Gloucester blinded but before Goneril is sent home with Edmund guiding her, while walking Goneril begins to lust for Edmund. Back with Regan as her husband, Cornwall, is about to take the second eye a servant attacks and mortal wounds him before dying Cornwall takes the second eye.
When Goneril learns of Cornwall's death, she realises that Regan will steal Edgar from her and sends a letter with Oswald for Edmund, who is stopped by Edgar while he is protecting Gloucester from Oswald, Edgar takes the letter as proof. As the battle is about to began the lust that GR have for Edmund is causing problem as jealousy is forming between the two women. This comes to a head when after the battle is won, Goneril poisons Regan leading her to die of screen. After Edgar defeats and mortal wounds Edmund, Goneril runs off screen and kills herself with a knife
