Dayton and a peace treaty was signed in Paris in December 1995.
When the final phase of the Balkan wars began as a result of Serbian attacks on Kosovo, Blair devoted his main diplomatic efforts to persuading a reluctant Clinton to back military action against Serbia. For Blair the military intervention was a great success, strengthening his belief in interventionalism, which became known as the Chicago Doctrine
after his speech in April 1999.

whilst Labour's humanitarian intervention policies in the Balkans was successful and some of his policies with europe led a closer relationship, his ties to the USA worked in progressing Britain's prominence after afganistan however it also led to the invasion of iraq which both showed to the world Britain was the junior partner and damaged her relationship with europe and global image
