        Martin Luther begins the initial split over his distaste of indulgences. He publishes the 95 Theses, which are points he opens for dispute. He was excommunicated and condemned by the Church at the Diet of Worms, but his mark had been made. His writings inspired a major break that was backed by multiple political institutions of the time
        
        John Calvin developed the basis of Calvinism, which introduces the idea of predestination. This means that you are already predestined for either damnation or salvation.
        
        The Roman Catholic Church was responsible for initiating a series of Holy Wars called the Crusades. Between 1095 and 1291 wars were fought between Christians and Muslims for the Holy Land and to stop the spread of Islam.

        The Nicene Creed affirms belief in the Holy Trinity, the three forms of God. These include the Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit (divine force of God that manifests in the world). Like water can take the form of ice, gas, and steam, but still be water, so can God take the forms in the Holy Trinity and still be God.
