One of my biggest idols is work. and I don't mean my job. But doing. Thinking I have to make things happen. am I not playing God then? do I trust God with things? Can I truly let go?
Because idolatry today looks less like a shrine and more like a screen, a calendar, or a bank account, money, status, comfort, approval it’s more subtle and easy to say nah… I’m fine.
But Judith, I’m doing okay spiritually. I read my Bible, I go to church. Yeah so do I.

Fastforward a bit. Moses is up on the mountain with Yahweh. It takes forever. People start thinking he is dead.
An idol is what fills my mind when I lie awake at night, idols are what I watch, idols are what I give my money, time, and energy to. Idolatry takes place when I consider some value, idea, or activity higher than God.
My problem. I don’t like thinking of it as an idol. Even while preparing this message I was confronted with it again. I love God. I put Him first. Really? Actually, a lot of the time, no.
