Electromagnetic waves:

Radio waves:
Radio waves are produced by oscillations in electrical circuits. Radio waves make sound in an electric radio by being absorbed by an antenna, and the electrons in the antenna are made to oscillate at the same frequency as the waves themselves.
longest - shortest wavelength:
Radio - TV or radio because they reflect off the Earths atmosphere
Microwave - satellite communications because they can pass through the Earths atmosphere or cooking food because they vibrate water molecules effectively
Infrared - electrical heaters or infrared cameras because all object emit infrared so you can detect objects in the dark
Visible light - fibre optic communications or broadband because it is easy to produce and travels quickly
Ultraviolet - energy efficient lamps or tanning because it stimulates melanin production
X-rays and Gamma rays - medical imaging and treatments because they are high energy but short wavelength
EM waves transfer energy from a source to an absorber. All EM waves have a speed of 3x10^8 m/s in a vacuum.

If light enters a glass block from air it will bend towards the normal. If light leaves water and goes into air it will bend away from the normal.
