Chap. 14 Fuel + Energy
The U.S’s energy usages differ from New Englands because as a country we use significantly less natural gas & oil. This is because it’s on average a colder climate than the rest of the country. The U.S uses significantly more coal compared to New England because coal is used to power industrial means which there are more of throughout the country.
-
Boiler - the boiler's primary function is to generate high-pressure, high-temperature steam from water, which then drives the turbine to produce mechanical energy, ultimately leading to electricity generation.
Turbine- The turbine then takes the pressurized steam and converts it into heat energy which then becomes mechanical energy

- Natural Gas- mostly made of methane (CH4)
Gaining popularity, because to ease away from fracking
Increased use for: heat generation for industrial and residential purposes, synthetic oils, and some vehicles run on natural gases
