recall election in the US, 19 states use it, can vote to recall delegate if they are doing poorly before their term is over, it is on every level in the us political system, it can be used to recall governors, mayors, state officials, senators, judges etc. forcing their resignation. very popular is states such as california, however success rate is poor and almost never works.
in 2003 california held a recall election in which voters replacing incumbent Democratic Governor Gray Davis with Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican.
there are some successful recall petitions every year across the US, it acts as a permanent accountability outside of election systems, means that elected officials cannot get comfortable in their position and not serve the electorate.
however in the us there are mainly 2 year terms (governors), this recall election process is a huge waste of resources, in 2021 $250 million dollars were spent trying to get rid of Gavin Newson of california and it failed.
