photosynthesis
LIMITING FACTORS
light :
-
as the light level is raise, the rate of photosynthesis increases steadily
at night, light is the limiting factor
-
temperature:
at winter, temperature is the limiting factor
limiting factor = too cold - the enzymes work more slowly, to hot the enzymes will be damaged ( 45 C)
chlorophyll : amount of chlorophyll / damaged chlorophyll = rate of photosynthesis is reduced as they cant absorb as much light

USING GLUCOSE
For respiration - transfers energy from glucose which enables the plant to convert the rest of the glucose into other useful substances
-
making amino acids- glucose combined with nitrate ions make amino acids which then are made into proteins
-
stored as starch - stored into the roots, stems and leaves. a cell with lots of glucose would draw in loads of water and swell up
REQUIRED PRACTICLE:
EQUIPMENT: light source, ruler, syringe, clamp, Canadian pondweed, boiling tube
-
variables:
-
-
Control variables – concentration of sodium hydrogen carbonate solution, temperature, using the same piece of Cabomba pondweed each time
as distance increases, light intensity decreases
-
the inverse square law means that if you halve the distance, the light intensity will be four times greater, if you double the distance, the light intensity will be four times smaller
