TYPES OF STEAM
Based on phase
Dry steam (dry saturated steam)
Superheated steam
• Wet steam (saturated steam = water + steam)
Based on pressure :
Low pressure steam: Pressure below 3.5 bar (g)
• Medium pressure steam: Pressure above 3.5 bar (g) but below 17.5 bar(g)
• High pressure steam: Pressure above 17.5 bar (g).

TYPES OF BOILER
WATER TUBE BOILER (Babcock and Wilcox boilers; Stirling boilers, Yarrow boilers fall in
this category.)
Water tube boilers: The boilers in which the furnace gases pass over the external surface of the tubes through which the water is circulated are Called water tube boilers.
FIRE TUBE BOILER (Cochran boilers, Locomotive boilers, Simple vertical tube boiler,
Scotch marine boilers fall in this category.)
In these boilers, furnace gases pass through the tubes which are surrounded by water. The water accepts the heat from the heated tubes and gets evaporated
