MIT Fab Lab
Main feature of the existing product/solution: The MIT Fab Lab incorporates cutting-edge tools and technology, offering a space where individuals can turn their imagination into reality. It's designed to help students, and innovators bring their visions to life through hands-on work and experimentation.
Introduction to the problem: The current STEAM room is insufficient for executing large-scale and unique student ideas due to space constraints and lack of heavily equipped machinery. Students often find themselves struggling to bring their innovative concepts to life because of limitations in available tools and workspace. After interviews with teachers and students, it is evident that students often face limitations and restrictions with their ideas.
Furthermore, the lack of availability in appropriate machinery such as 3D printers, and laser cutters, may require the target audience to scale down their ideas.
TARGET GROUP: Indus community (Teachers, Students and Parents) involved in STEAM related activities
Research Plan: Analysing existing STEAM labs, and identifying essential layouts, tools, and structures.
Analysis:
Strength:
One of the most technologically advanced learning spaces in the world, offering access to cutting-edge equipment and resources.
Weakness:
Due to its highly specialized equipment and infrastructure, the cost of setting up a similar facility in schools is extremely expensive
Threat:
Over-reliance of technology may reduce the students` natural creativity and problem-solving skills
