Why is it important
Many Muslims start and end with the Shahadah. This helps to remind them of their core beliefs (Tawhid and Risalah).

To seek forgiveness of sins. This is because on Hajj they pray on Mount Arafat, also known as Mount Mercy to seek redemption of sin.

To learn more about the history of their faith. They want to walk where the prophet Ibrahim and Muhammed did and learn about the origins of Islam.
To show tabarra. This is because they throw pebbles at pillars to represent showing hatred towards evil.
