Second Grade Art, Key:, Key - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Students will demonstrate knowledge of: thick/thin, wave/curvy, zig zag, horizontal/vertical, interrupted or dotted, parallel/converging, and contour lines
  - - - Students will sketch shapes and then shapes to form. (a minimum of three shapes)
        Ex: circle to sphere, square to cube, rectangle to cylinder, and triangle to cone
  - - - Pre Instruction: define texture rubbings and discuss the findings of textures by students
      - Post Instruction: Students create a drawing or collage using both visual and tactile texture.
        This including a minimum of three each type of texture.
  - - - Pre Instruction: drawing using at least six patterns that can be labeled as ordered or a random pattern
      - Post Instuction: creating a drawing that demonstrates use of ordered and random patterns
        Ex: an animal motif
  - - - Artwork (i.e. drawing, pastel, painting, collage, etc.) demonstrating the use of the following:
        
        Primary, secondary, and tertiary, warm/cool, tints/shades, color mixing
    - - Infer meanings for a varity of moods and emotions
        Ex: art. deomstrating moods, realism, fantasy, poems, stories, etc.)
        
        Students create. artwork using colors to represent moods and emotions.
      - Use art prints to identify emotions, moods/feelings, and realism/fantasy
  - - - Students will create symmetrical designs.
        Ex: paper cutouts, snowflakes designs, drawing,etc.
      - Post Instruction: Students complete artwork (i.e drawing, painting, collage) of a building and/or landscape that include the following:
        
        Positive/negative space, size/distance relationship, horizon long, along with foreground, middle ground, and background.
  - - - Pre Instruction: plan out the sketch for a sculprute or mask
    - - Post Instruction: Sculpture (i.e clay, foil, etc.) demonstrating from and balance (i.e. a figurative sculpture showing action)
- - - - Demonstrate with precision:
        
        Mark making with. pencils, crayons, and markers, etc
        Single-step and multi-step directions
  - - - Pre Instruction: explore paper folding, bending, cutting, crinkling, etc. to create texture
      - Post Instruction: Students will create a collage that demonstrates use of various paper techniques to create texture (i.e Self portrait, project based on principle’s new clothes or animals should not wear clothing, etc.).
  - - - Experiment with color mixing (all colors- primary, secondary, tertiary, tints, shades) as the practice or Pre Instructional support for the above exercise.
  - - - Pre instruction: experiment with teacher selected media to solve a problem.

        Post instruction: artwork demonstrating a technique (e.g. making a freestanding sculpture).
