Definition: Food is a substance consisting essentially of protein,carbohydrate,fat and other nutrients used in the body of an organism to sustain growth and vital process
Importances of food: Gives us energy, help us to grow, Keeps our bones strong, Boost our immune system, Ensure that all of our organs work properly
Types of food
1.Carbohydrate
Example:Rice,Pasta,Potatoes,Corn
Function:Helps in fat breakdown,provides energy,Essential for cognitive process
2.protein
Example:Egg, Meat, Fish,Dairy products
Functions: Builds and repair tissues, Immune function, Cell signaling ,structural support
3.Fats and oil
Example:Oils ,butter, ghee, fatty fish,nuts
Provides energy, Support cell growth, Protect organs
4.Vitamins
Example:Vitamin A(carrots,sweet potatoes), Vitamin B(Whole grains,meats and legumes), Vitamin C(Citrus fruits,bell peppers) etc
Function:Regulate body function, Boost immune system, support energy production
Why do we get hungry?
We get hungry from;
Sleep:Poor or insufficient sleep can affect hunger hormones
Physical activity: Exercise can increase hunger due to body's increased energy expenditure
Empty stomach: When your stomach is empty, it contracts end produces signals that the brain interprets as hunger sometimes refers to as growling or hunger pangs
