A universal recycling law was passed in Vermont that bans the 3 major materials from trash bins: 1.“Blue bin” recyclables (paper, cardboard, containers) 2. Leaf, yard debris and clean wood 3. food scraps. Dividing trash into these 3 categories that can be recycled will decrease the amount of litter found in streets, parks and landfills. Most of these recycled items can be used as fertilizers, used for wooden products, glass containers etc… helping the community and environment instead of harming it. This law was passed in the state of Vermont and was successful, so If we were to pass a similar law maybe it will help Springfield as well. - (Vermont’s Universal Recycling Law)
restaurants use compostable plates and cutlery, and the straws are biodegradable. Guests have to sort their own garbage into 3 bins.. trash, recycling and compost
