In 1909, Picasso returned to Horta de Ebro and painted landscapes inspired by Cézanne and Braque. In Factory at Horta de Ebro, he changed the landscape by adding things like a chimney and palm trees, which were not actually in the village, to improve the painting.
The chimney that appears in the background is, in fact, nowhere evident in Horta. Rather it represents a chimney used for burning olive waste
