Marlow is sent to Congo to rescue Mr Kurtz, during his trip he is horrified by the actions of the traders; the closer he gets to Mr K the more he has to face the wild jungle, he discovers evidences of human sacrifice and when he finds Mr K he realizes he has completely lost his mind, K dies shortly after and understands his depravity on his death bed, then Marlow goes to his fiancee
