In Zoey and Sassafras, Zoey helps the dragon by using science by testing different experiments, kindness and teamwork. She tries different solutions, and the effect is that she learns how important it is to care for others and not give up even when one solution doesn't work.
In Stop the Sun, Terry tries to understand his dad’s pain from the war. He talks to his dad, and even though he doesn’t fully understand, he learns to be patient and kind to him because he knows what he's been through.
