Plot
In Stop the Sun, a boy named Terry has to face his father that had been through trauma. Terry's father was in the Vietnam war and years after he faces the Vietnam syndrome. Terry never understood why his father was like that because every time he would ask his mom, the answer would be the same. One day Terry and his father decided to go to the mall for errands. They've split up but after a couple hours Terry came back to a crowd gathering around his father. He was on the floor and going through his episodes. Terry was embarrassed. Terry then tries to know what is happening to his father again. His father then opens up to Terry and he realizes how much his father has been through.

Characters
Terry, the protagonist of the story who is a teenage boy that is embarrassed of how his dad acted. He shows improvement later on when he starts to become more understanding of his dad's behavior.
Terry's dad, is still traumatized by the Vietnam war. The Vietnam war impacted him and how he would act at home with his family. He was scared and refused to talk about it but later on tries to open up to his son.
Terry's mom, is understanding of both Terry and his father. She is a loving and kind person and tries to help her husband when he's going through something.

Plot
In charlottes web there is a little pig named wilbur. When he was born, he was the smallest one there. Then this girl named Fern saved Wilbur from getting killed and instead raises him as a pet. Later on wilbur moves to Fern's Uncles farm and meets a spider named charlotte. When wilbur found out that he was gonna be killed charlotte helped him by saying was some pig who was terrific. Word spread and just because of that wilbur became famous in the fair and eventually saves him from being killed. Sadly, after the fair charlotte dies, but before she dies, she leaves and egg sack of her babies. When the eggs hatch wilbur takes care of him keeping his memory of charlotte alive.

Theme
This story specifies in friendship, loyalty and sacrifice. In the story the spider named charlotte helped her friend wilbur the pig to escape being slaughtered.
Moral Value

Be kind to others - Kindness, like Fern saving Wilbur, can change lives.
Life goes on - Charlotte’s babies remind us that even when someone is gone, their love and impact stay with us.

One of the reading strategies we used to determine the themes and main idea of these stories is re-reading. By using re-reading, we were able to get a better view of the text and to see if we've missed anything when reading the first time.
The second reading strategy we used to determine the themes and main idea of these stories is summarizing. By summarizing, we were able to test myself and rephrase the text based on my understanding to see the main idea of the text.
