MODERN ARCHITECTS CASE STUDIES
STAGES
STAGE 1
Create a list of 20 (now 15) architects who practised modernist styles
Give me a broad sample range of mutliple styles and influences in order to analyse from
STAGE 2
Select 3 Modern Architects to perform a case study on based on CRAAP Testing and analysing which fit my favoured style
find the most relevant architects to my interests in design style and philosophy, use proper evaluation skills to do this
STAGE 3
Build a large sample size of each architects work
have a large range of material to evaluate
STAGE 4
Analyse the work of each architect, Find Features I Like/ Dislike, Record all of my findings
Narrow my influences down using proper analytical methods
STAGE 5
Compile all my findings into a research document for each architect and build a large mood board using the inspiration and lessons I learn from these case studies
Provide Inspiration and ideas for the design process
GOALS:
Table features in the architects designs I enjoy or dislike
Appreciate the breadth and depth of modern architecture and each architects style
Find trends between modern architects and understand the reasoning behind these ideas
Build a large catalogue of inspiration for my own design from architects whose buildings I like
Why case studies?
Best way to learn a specific style
Will provide me with lots of material with similar styles
Can focus on my favoured architects
Can cover a broad range of styles
More interactive and can use a wide range of research documents
Will improve analytical and evaluation skills
