ABORTION AND INFANTICIDE
Beginning of Life
- Christian worldview the value of human life begins at the moment of conception, meaning that a fetus is considered a person with inherent dignity for the time of fertilization.
Soul
- is th center of personal awareness, gives each of us our personal identity through all of our bodily changes, nonphysical, must allow for continuity through change
Biblical Evidence
- Scripture indicates that the justifiable taking of human life includes just warfare, capital punishment and self-defense
Abortion as Murder -
Abortion of a zygote or embryo is morally wrong because it bears God's image from conception onward in a continuous personal existence exteding beyond earthly life.
Stages of human development
- Sperm, Zygote, Embryo, fetus, Infant, Child, Youth and Adult
KILLING FORMS
Murder-
God's commandment No deliberately or intentionally take innocent human life.
Self-Defense
- Key is whether or not life is in jeopardy is the clearest validation of self-defense
Physical Violence
-tin the home has been underreported and largely ignored, domestic violene, with up to one-third of cases going unreported until it is too late.
Verbal Abuse
- Sin of the tongue, Christ commentary on the sixth commandment, confronting a person who is wrong must be done discreetly and in a spirit of humility and grace.
Neglect
- another way to hatered by doing and saying nothing when a word or a action would keep someone form harm Failure to do good, when in one's power to do so is sin
Hateful Anger
- Lack of Love, as well as positive hatred is a form of murder, A person's interstate, Contemptuous anger is subject to God's judgment
RACISM
Corporate Responsibility
- Unjust and unloving behavior can become characteristic of a group and become corporate injustice or oppression. A legal system or religion can create discrimination against a class of people
Biblical vies Race and Discrimination
- For Christian to think themselves superior is sinful and foolish . God di not require segregation and discrimination among people.
Roots of Racism
- Pride is a root cause of racism, ignorance extends this judgement to identify cultural patterns with skin color, in additon fear contributes to racial and class strife. Fear of the unknown, fear of the other
Rasism in the Church
-The church cleanse and heal its own members and then become God's instrument to cleanse and heal society by teaching, personal relation and structure and programs
Race and Racism
- Racism refers to the ideal that certain nonracial characteristics are the result of race that result in hatred, intolerence and unjust discrimination
SUICIDE EUTHANASIA, MEDICAL
Suicide
- Life is a gift from God therefore suicide is a sin. Suicide violates the probihition of intentionally taking innocent human life and nowhere condoned in Scripture.
Euthanasia - Killing others deliberately, whatever the motive, violates God's law and should be condemned by human law.
Self-Sarifice
- the laying down one's life for another is not sinful suicide. Far from being the worst of crimes, it is the greatest of virtues.
Bibilical Guidelines
- God's love for people, God's ultimate purpose in Christ, Sickness and suffer felt by all until Christ return, Divne intervention alone not human ingenuity can rescue human being for death, etc.
Active and passive euthanasia
- expeption of intentionally taking human life shch as ectipic pregnancy. Actively is parth of the Hippocratic oath taken by all medical practitioners and Passive euthanasia is morally permissible since it is the dying process ( shtting down of heart, lungs and brain)
WAR AND PEACE
Church verus state - Both divinely ordained and have value. Our ultimate "pledge of allegiance" is not to a country or church but to Christ.
Human Responsibility - the choices mankind may not lay the blame for war on God or Satan, for humans are responsible for war
BIBICAL PERSPECTIVE - The Old Testament war was sanction or permitted in cases of self-defense but commanded by god.
God's Sovereignty - through human beings are responsible for their behavior, Individual and corporate, God in his sovereign wisdom will bring his purposes to a succeful conclusion
