Influenced by Cubism and futurism, Vorticism was founded in London in 1914. Founded by artist and writer Wyndham Lewis, the group was the first modernist movement in Britain. Its goal is to create art that expresses the vitality of the modern world. From the perspective of style, the form of the vortex school works is clear, linear characteristics are obvious, and the picture often appears unmodulated colors that do not express specific images. The work aims to reflect the energy of modern life represented by machines, factories, docks, pop music and dance.
Edward Wadsworth (1889-1949) was an English painter, printmaker, designer, and one of the original members of the Vortex School.
