Plot
Exposition: Karl, a German spice trader arrived at Jakarta, Indonesia seeking to expand his business after World War II. He heard about a small but prosperous market for Indonesian spices. Eko, a local spice merchant controls was one of the best sources for those spices
Rising Action: Karl tried to make an offer to Eko. The offer was that he would pay more than the local middlemen. Despite this offer Eko refused fearing this could be another form of exploitation. The situation worsened for Eko as local middlemen tried to scare Eko to sell his spices for a lower price as well as corrupt officials that were working with the middlemen threatening to block Eko's shipments.
Resolution: Now that the middlemen were out of the way, Eko decided to accept Karl's deal and established a partnership together.
Climax: Eko's business collapsed as the middlemen and corrupt official tightened their control, leaving him with limited options. Karl, facing pressure from his clients in Germany had to come up with a solution in order to not lose the deal.
Falling Action: Karl uncovered the corruption of the officials and the middlemen by gathering evidence such as finding documents and receipts. He used his connections to show this to the public and exposed the scandal.
