DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
THEORIES/THEORISTS
- COLEMAN AND OSBORNE (2010): 2 women a week (1/3) of all female homicide victims killed by (former) partners
- DOBASH AND DOBASH (1979; 2007): violent incidents could be set off by husband's feeling a challenge of authority
- WALBY AND ALLEN (2004): women more likely to be victims of multiple incidents of abuse and sexual vioelnce
- DAR (2013): hard to count separate domestic violence incidents as abuse may be continuous + can happen so much that victims cant reliably count all incidents
- CHEAL (1991): reluctance due to police and other state agencies unprepared to involve in family life
- YEARNSHIRE: on average a woman suffered 35 assaults before making a report (+ Dar argues (domestic) violence victims less likely to report as not a police matter or its not trivial)
