Help moves energy around the planet. Air mass is the large body of air that has a similar temperature and conditions throughout the year. These bodies of air pass over large bodies of water and pick up moisture and heat. That’s how they are able to bring warm temperature to other part of land. It spins on the Earths axis and that’s how there is air masses. It depends on if the air is faster than the Earth. If its slower, it will move clockwise, but if its faster, it will move counter clockwise. The Coriolis Effect is when you are moving with the spin of the earth and traveling toward or away from the poles. It will then appear to travel on an arc. If you are stationary, you will see it go in a straight line, but if you move with the earths spin, it will appear to turn. This is partially because the fact that the earth is its fastest at the equator, (1600km/hr.) which is a main reason for hurricanes and fast air movement around the earth, usually being faster than it.
