Climate Factors
Latitude
Effect on Climate The place closest to the equator receives more concentrated, direct energy from the Sun than those farther from the equator therefore making the places hotter. The futher the place is the less concentrated light they recieve and some sunlight bounces off .

What is latitude
Latitude is a imaginary line that describes how far north and south a place is from the equator. The latitude split the world into the northern and southern hemisphere. It is also the Earth's widest point is at the equator Latitude lines start at the equator (0 degrees latitude) and run east and west, parallel to the equator.
-
Elevation
What is Elevation
Elevation is the distance above sea level of a given location it impacts a location's temperature and the amount of precipitation it receivesx
Impact on Climate
As the elevation increases the temperature drops due to the air density. Air molecules are held together by gravity. At higher elevation, air molecules are spaced father apart, meaning the air is more dense. The air is better able to trap heat , so temperature is warmer.
-
Ocean currents
Impact on climate Cold ocean currents begin in the polar regions and bring cool water towards the equator. Warm waters start in the tropics and bring warm water waters to cooler regions. The cool ocean currents reaches the tropical regions and absorb the heat from the equator and bring it back to the poles making them cold again in a loop
-
What is Ocean currents
Oceans make up about 70% of the Earth's surface. Within the oceans are massive flows of water called ocean currents. 90% of ocean currents are cold and 10% are warm.
-
Bodies of Water
Impact on Climate
Bodied of water take a long time to heat up or cool down compared to the land around them. This helps keep the temperature of the land nearby from becoming too extreme. During the summer, the lake absorb the heat and release it during the winter to keep the land from getting too cold and finally when the water cools down, during the summer, the lake keep it from getting too hot.

What is Bodies of Water ]Large bodies of water are excellent at holding on to the heat from the sun. Water takes a long time to cool down and heat up so a big lake or ocean acts like a temperature regulating system for the land nearby
