Climate Factors
Latitude
Impact: The way Latitude impacts the climate is that at zero degrees latitude, the rays of the sun are very concentrated. Usually, the rays would bounce off of the ozone layer but because there is no place to bounce off too most of the rays get into the atmosphere making the equator hot and warm. At the poles, the rays bounce off to space because it skips off the ozone layer like skipping a rock. It does this because it is very round at the poles and there is not a lot of land/space to absorb it. This is why the poles are colder.
Notes: Latitudes are imaginary horizontal lines that surround the earth parallel with other latitude lines. With Zero degrees being the Equator, which divides the North and South Hemispheres.

Ocean Currents
Impact: When cold water and warm water meet currents begin. The currents warm or cool the area around them. Because there are so many places where the two waters meet it creates a circulation system that can drag you across the earth if you don't do anything about currents. But not all currents are as strong as others, so you can only feel the currents in some places because of temperature.
-
Notes:
Cold water: Cold currents come from/ begin in the poles and polar regions. Then they bring the cool currents to the tropical climates
-
Together, the currents heat or cool the lands around them, making a global circulation system.
-
Elevation
Impact: The higher up you go the colder it gets because the air molecules get further apart. This happens because it is harder for gravity to make the air molecules more compact. This means the molecules are less dense making it harder for molecules to trap the heat from the sun.
-
Notes: Elevation is when you go higher up. The air gets thinner making it harder to breathe. It is harder to breathe because as you go up the air molecules are a lot more spread out because it is harder for gravity to keep them together. So you don't get as much oxygen.
