Climate Factors
Latitude
Note: How far north or how far south a place is from the equator. Measured in Degrees, the places closer to the equator will receive more direct energy from the sun. Latitude is the greatest part of determining the climate in the area.
Impact: The places closer to the equator are warmer and the places further away are colder. The sun spreads energy around the planet with less concentrated energy and warms the climate.

Elevation
Note: Elevation affects the local community's climate. As the elevation gets higher the temperature become colder and colder. This is because of the density of the air and how the air gets thinner. Air density is how close or far particles are from each other which is held by gravity.
Impact: The climate becomes colder because the air particles are further apart and are held by gravity. The air gets consistently thinner the higher the elevation which makes it very cool and harder to breathe properly which is a big problem. There is also a thing called "elevation sickness" which causes people to become very dehydrated and can make you dizzy without the proper gear

Ocean Currents
Note: 70% of the earth's surface is filled with just water. There are huge flows of water called ocean currents that are influenced by wind, gravity and the spinning of earth on its axis. 90% of ocean currents are cold while the other 10% is warm.
Impact: Ocean currents help cool down certain regions of the planet by moving in a circle like shape and it's cold water cools down the planet.

Bodies of Water
Note: Bodies of water such as lakes and oceans affect temperatures and the levels of precipitation on nearby land. Bodies of water take a longer time to heat up or cool down compared to the land and air mass around them. Water warms and cools slowly; it has moderate temperatures. Large bodies of water are excellent at holding on to the heat from the sun. Water takes a long time to warm up and long time to cool down. A big lake or ocean acts like a temperature regulating system for the land nearby.
Impact: Lakes and big Oceans nearby create mild or warmer winters and Cooler summers because it takes longer to heat up and cool down so it preserves temperature for a longer period of time.
