Sea Ice Theory
melting sea ice flooded the seas and ice and caused a sea temperature drop of 9 degrees which caused a mass extinction.

Asteroid Theory
There was a crater 180km in diameter with debris flung into the sky it blocked the sun making everywhere dark causing plants to die, the animals eating the plants to die and the carnivores to die, the asteroid also caused fires, tsunamis and earthquakes when it crashed.
