(i. Planning and execution ) D-Day, on June 6, 1944, was an Allied invasion of Normandy, France, to combat Nazi Germany. For months, troops from the US, UK, and Canada were involved in the planning process. The Allies utilized deception to confuse the Germans about where the invasion would take place. On D-Day, more over 156,000 troops landed on five beaches. Bombings, naval fire, and air attacks helped them smash through German fortifications.
